Bharat Anand
Henry R. Byers Professor of Business Administration, Harvard Business School, Moderator
Bharat Anand is a Professor in the Strategy Unit at Harvard Business School, where he teaches Corporate Strategy. He received an AB in Economics, magna cum laude , from Harvard University, and his PhD in Economics from Princeton University. At Princeton, he was nominated to the Princeton Society of Fellows.
Professor Anand's research is in applied and empirical industrial organization, and corporate strategy.
His current research examines competition in information goods markets, with a primary focus on media and entertainment.
Professor Anand has also written several papers on strategies that firms employ to tackle the challenge of "getting paid" when property rights over assets are weak or insecure. In his research, he has examined how firms capture value in these settings. His work examines the financing of R&D, the structure of technology licensing contracts, and the industrial organization of financial intermediation markets.
His work on strategic alliances provided the intellectual platform for Andersen Consulting's Partnership Value Assessment methodology for the valuation of such alliances. His work has been published in various journals in economics and strategy, and he has written numerous case studies.
At Harvard, Anand has also taught the first-year core course in Competition and Strategy, and in several executive education programs. Prior to coming to HBS, he was on the faculty at the Yale School of Management.
Anand lives in Wellesley, MA with his wife, Anju, who is a cardiologist, and their daughter Rhea.

Jaspreet Bindra
Country Manager, Online Services Group, Microsoft India
Jaspreet Bindra is currently the Country Manager of Online Services Group (OSG) for Microsoft India. OSG encompasses MSN portal and services, consumer focused Windows Live services, and all consumer focused online initiatives of Microsoft.
Jaspreet is focused on driving consumer use of these services, bringing new advertisers online and exploring business opportunities in the booming mobile market.
Prior to joining MSN India, Jaspreet Bindra was with the Tata Group. Jaspreet was a part of the Tata Administrative Services (TAS), and he held senior sales, marketing and general business management positions in the telecom, internet and consumer companies within the group.
Jaspreet also formerly held the position of Chief Operating Officer with Baazee.com – now known as eBay India. Jaspreet is also the Vice Chairman of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).
Jaspreet is known for being a whiz at quizzing and is extremely passionate about it. He has the distinct honor of winning the Brand Equity Quiz thrice, in 1995, 1997 and 2004. Jaspreet particularly enjoys business quizzes and also describes himself as an incorrigible reader.

Karan Johar
Director, Indian Cinema
Karan Johar made his directorial debut at age 25 with a path breaking love story 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. The film remains a landmark in Indian cinema for the appreciation it received, both critically and commercially, in India as well as the world.
Karan Johar’s involvement with movies began when he helped in the scripting of Aditya Chopra's 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge'. He also assisted father, Yash Johar (a very reputed film producer), with the production of his ongoing film 'Duplicate', as well as contributed to Yash Chopra's making of 'Dil To Pagal Hai' by handling all the costumes for movie star Shah Rukh Khan.
'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' opened to widespread acclaim and earned Karan Johar several prestigious awards for direction, story, screenplay and dialogues. The film also earned awards for its principal artistes and technicians.
Karan Johar followed up this success with his second film, the multi starrer 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', which broke box office records all over the world with its release in 2001. Besides being featured in the UK charts for four weeks (entering at No.3, December 14th, 2001 weekend), 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' also holds the prestigious record of being the first Indian film to enter the US top ten charts.
Being multifaceted, Karan has designed the costumes for Shah Rukh Khan in many films such as Veer-Zaara, Main Hoon Na, Mohabbatein, Duplicate, Dil To Pagal Hai.
In 2004, Dharma Productions released another successful movie 'Kal Ho Naa Ho', which was written by Karan Johar.
Karan Johar’s third directorial film - `Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ (KANK), holds the distinction of having the biggest opening worldwide for any Bollywood films and also went on to become the highest grossing Indian Film in the International Market, beating the previous record held by his own film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’.
Another successful feather in his cap remains his popular chat show on Indian television – Koffee With Karan. The celebrity chat show holds the distinction of the most watched English show on television in the Indian sub-continent.

Ajay Vidyasagar
President, Content & New Media, STAR India
Ajay has over Eighteen years of successful brand management, Content creation, sales & new business development experience. Part of the core team that started STAR TV in India, Ajay has been managing Content creation, Consumer Marketing, Licensing & Merchandising for the Indian Sub Continent and leading the new media strategy for STAR, one of Asia’s largest Media brands.
He has been with STAR for over twelve years. Throughout his time with the company, he has made tremendous contributions - from Channel [V], Star Vijay, Marketing, to Content & new media. His achievements include Channel [V]’s launch in to a youth platform, launch of Star’s interactive business in India, and the launch of STAR network into South India.
Ajay has also been responsible for re-energizing the STAR brand and launching a hugely acclaimed new brand STAR ONE targeted to the younger and upscale Hindi speaking Indians in 2004.
Ajay also has spearheaded the launch of Kaun Banega Crorepati 2 & 3{Indian version of “Who wants to be a Millionaire”} to record among the highest rated TV show launches in Indian television history in 2006 and 2006
Ajay has also helped take the television dominated business of STAR to bid, win, develop, design and monetize the ICC Cricket world cup global website project in 2007. Ajay played a key leadership role in Star’s television broadcasting business while aggressively working to develop new media initiatives. He is also responsible for affiliate relationships and Star India's Licensing & Merchandising & Interactive media business, Content and Marketing.
Ajay describes himself as an ‘IDEAS and ACTION oriented professional’ who has a big appetite for risk and has a passionate and undying love for doing things right…but differently.
Ajay is a post graduate in management from the University of Madras, has an affinity for technology, entertainment (Mobile, Internet & TV) and rural Indian markets and is a big believer in brand ‘India’.
Ajay who lives in Bangalore, India is married to Anna Alexander and has two children, Shloka who is eight and Neal who is a year and a half old.
