Alan Thomson
Moderator & Partner, BCG
Alan Thomson is a Partner and Managing Director in BCG’s Houston office. He has over 22 years of experience working in the global oil and gas industry and has lived in Asia for 12 years.
Current roles include:
- Upstream Oil and Gas Practice Leader
- Member of the Global Energy Practice Leadership Team
- Member of Global Operations Practice
Alan has extensive experience and expertise in strategy development, organization design, corporate governance, and operations (supply chain and manufacturing). He has led client engagements (Fortune 500 companies, NOCs, Governments) in the energy and industrial goods sectors in Asia Pacific and North America, and has actively supported many of BCG’s global oil and gas client relationships in Europe, the Middle East, and South America.
Alan has led many engagements in India over the years and has worked for a number of the public oil and gas companies and private companies in the upstream gas and power sector.
Alan is Canadian and married with four children.

Prasad Menon
MD, Tata Power
A chemical engineer from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Prasad Menon, has worked with some of the best companies in the Indian chemicals industry – ICI, Nagarjuna Fertilisers and Tata Chemicals.
Mr. Menon took over as the Managing Director of Tata Chemicals, the largest inorganic chemicals company in India in October 2000, at a time when the organization was getting adversely impacted by the huge changes in the business environment triggered by the opening up of the Indian economy.
In October 2006, Mr. Menon took over as the Managing Director of Tata Power, the largest integrated private power utility in India. With the sustained growth in GDP, and the power sector reforms in the country, Mr. Menon is leading Tata Power to leverage the opportunities put forth by the changes in the business environment, and setting an aggressive path for exponential growth, and establishing the organization across geographies in India, and overseas.
Mr. Menon is on the Board of several Tata Group companies.

Mr. Vedamoorthy Namasivayam
Executive Director, PriceWaterhouseCoopers
Namasivayam is an Executive Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers, with over 22 years
experience in Management Consultancy and is also a member of the PwC Indian
Leadership Team. He holds a Masters Degree in Industrial Management from Indian
Institute of Technology, Chennai and also a Masters Degree in Social Sciences from
Madras University, Chennai.
He heads PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Government Reforms and Institutional Development
(GRID) SBU. He is supported by 5 Executive Directors and a team of 200 professionals
specializing in diverse thematic areas viz. Energy sector, Public Finance, Urban Reforms,
Transport and Trade Infrastructure, Public Sector Enterprises Reforms and the Social
Sector group.
Namasivayam specializes in energy security issues of India and its various regions. He
worked among policy makers in Governments and professional managers in public sector
in the states of Orissa, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh,
Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. In these States he is
involved in power sector reforms as well as other developmental projects.
Namasivayam has also worked on energy related projects in China, Bangladesh, and
Bhutan & Sri Lanka.
Namasivayam has extensive experience in directing large-scale change programs with
multifunctional inputs. His experience provides him a unique understanding of policy
requirements and implementation issues in Indian context. His work often involves
understanding the perspectives of various stakeholders and the complex interplay of their
positions, and developing acceptable and practicable solutions based on ground reality.

G V Rama Krishna
Chairman and Managing Director, SELCO International Limited, India
Winner of Prof. M.B.Mirza and Department of Science and Technology awards for young scientist, Dr.G.V.Rama Krishna served as a Professor in Osmania University for a period of two decades. During this period, he was a visiting professor at Texas A & M University College, USA and Quebec University, Montreal, Canada. He also guided 13 Ph.D.’s, who are continuing research in the field of biotechnology in different parts of the world.
In 1997, Dr.Krishna took over as Chairman and Managing Director of SELCO International Limited. Under his leadership, SELCO has grown from being the pioneer in (MSW) Waste to energy to market leader in Solid Waste management in India. Starting with India’s first Municipal Solid waste (MSW) processing plant in 1999 and Power plant in 2003, SELCO is currently building integrated MSW plants with Power plants and landfills in 10 different cities and towns across India.
The intensive R&D efforts of the team led by Dr. Krishna resulted in the creation of a new market for MSW management in the country. Dispelling the initial stigma associated with Refuse Derived Fuel(RDF), the intense marketing efforts of Dr.Krishna resulted in the recognition of RDF as a coal substitute for various industries. SELCO’s tie up with Grasim Cement has been proving to be a success in this new direction.
BizHyderabad’s Business Personality in 2001, Dr.Krishna’s pioneering efforts in convincing the Government authorities about the potential of the sector and his drive to make the technology a commercial success have been instrumental to SELCO’s growth. Targeting 100 MW installed capacity in the Power plants, Dr.Krishna is now driving the next phase of growth of the company.
